The narcissist and the empath give up care for the world/humanity at different times and for different reasons.
Narcissists are weak and abandon their concern for others out of fear or willful ignorance. They prioritize preserving the ego and avoiding anything that might cause pain, including true wisdom.

They let go of caring for humanity through submission to a higher power after enduring all the pain and wisdom it has to offer first.
The goal is to find faith in a higher power/calling based on love.
The focus should be on preserving the true self or Soul, as they understand that man trapped in the flesh is playing out a dream from which they have awakened.
They no longer concern themselves with the dream outside of raising consciousness within it (from within).
They know that the only thing real (eternal) in the dream is the soul and we are all one connected by the soul–and all dreams come to an end eventually.
